CYBERCYD Primary School Contest
TEACHER’S INSTRUCTIONS
Welcome to TECHWEEK10's Primary School activity designed to engage student in the Bermuda CyberTips website and introduce them to Cyber Cyd and HectorTM and his friends.
To Participate:
Simply download the “Cyd Welcomes HectorTM” and his friends” story book from the CyberTips website and print one for each student participating. In the lines beneath each picture enter the student's suggestions for what Cyd would say to HectorTM, and what HectorTM and his friends would say to Cyd. There is a suggested topic for each page. Then the students should color in the picture. They may add their own items into the picture such as a computer, a cell phone, a map of Bermuda, or other graphics they think would assist in telling the story. These must be within the picture box, and no additional pages may be added.
The Story Line: Page One – Students should write ‘what Cyd would say to welcome HectorTM to Bermuda’. A friendly hello! Something specific about Bermuda would be good.
Page Two – Students should write ‘what HectorTM and his friends might say about using the Internet’. This would include helping to educate young people about safety and proper behavior when using the internet.
Page Three – Student should write in their own message about safety on the Internet. An example might be “I never type my name into any websites”.
Deadline:
The activity begins on April 5, 2010. All entries must be submitted by the end of day, Sunday, April 25th. Judging will take place the morning of Monday, April 26th and winners will be contacted that afternoon. Prize giving and presentation of Certificates will take place on Wednesday, April 28th.
